Highlights from May
- A Grand Slam Start to the DREAMS Softball Season! We were honored to welcome UL Softball Head Coach Alyson Habetz to our first game of the season. The excitement continued when Next Bat Up arrived with an amazing gift. Thanks to the generosity of Peter Pham and the Next Bat Up team, every player received a brand-new softball bat! In addition, DREAMS was presented with two special "Love the Moment" bats that will be auctioned at a future DREAMS event.
- Our DREAMS CYT class wowed audiences in May with their performance of Into the Jungle! Months of hard work, rehearsals, and dedication came together for a fantastic show that highlighted the talents, creativity, and confidence of our performers.
- One of the most meaningful moments of May was celebrating the baptisms of five of our DREAMS participants and Confirmation of one. Surrounded by family, friends, and supporters, these individuals publicly proclaimed their faith through baptism.

Shade Tree Cafe by Dreams
DREAMS Foundation of Acadiana is proud to announce our acquisition of the legendary Shade Tree Cafe’ in Broussard! We are so excited that Chef Lonnie Pope and Eric Letulier will allow us to continue their tradition using their special recipes that we’ve all come to love. DREAMS Foundation is currently renovating the space and we will also be featuring our delicious meat pies, prepared and served right here at home, along with other special menu items. Hope to see you in early-2026!
As a non-profit, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with special needs by providing meaningful employment, individualized living solutions and purpose-driven opportunities. Our vision for DREAMS in the DREAMS Shade Cafe' also includes a dual-purpose venue that hosts micro-weddings and other special events, while creating sustainable job training and employment through DREAMS Manufacturing and hospitality services.
