Day Dreamers Excursions is a great way to make friends in the special needs community, discover new places in Acadiana and have fun away from home!

It is a program designed for special needs individuals, their caretakers, friends, family members and new acquaintances of any ability to get together once a week to explore different areas of Acadiana. Most activities will be free or of low cost to the participant. Each excursion will be announced on the Day Dreams Excursion Facebook Group Page. Click Here to Join the Facebook Group.

“In addition to the social interaction of these fun activities, one major benefit of the excursions is the experience of building daily living skills, which encourages independence”, states Donielle Watkins, Executive Director for D.R.E.A.M.S. Foundation of Acadiana. “Our goal of the program is to have participants takeaway skills that they can use in everyday scenarios, such as learning the safety rules of crossing a street or learning how to exchange money with local retailers, etc.”
